Added 702 days ago - SYDNEY: Mission Biotechnologies Sdn Bhd secured an order from an undisclosed client for the monthly supply of 3,000 to 5,000 tonnes (3,300 to 5,500 tons) of biodiesel over a six-month period from March 2009. The client is one of the largest independent commodities trading companies with 2007 revenues exceeding US$50 billion.
The contract price will be on a cost-plus and free-on-board basis from Kuantan Port, Malaysia. The order is for a minimum 3,000 tonnes (3,300 tons) with the option to increase to 5,000 tonnes (5,500 tons). The payment for contracted volume is backed by a letter of credit and performance bond.
Mission Biotechnologies' 100,000-tonne (110,000-ton) per annum biodiesel plant in Malaysia will operate at above 80 per cent capacity in 2009 with the award of this latest contract, according to Managing Director of Mission NewEnergy Ltd., the parent company of Mission Biotechnologies. The biodiesel plant now uses crude palm oil and will be using jatropha oil as its primary feedstock in the future.
Previously known as Mission Biofuels Ltd., Mission NewEnergy Ltd. also owns and operates two wind energy turbines of 1.65 MW each in India. The wind power produced from the wind turbines is supplied to a Western Indian utility under a 13-year power purchase agreement.
